New York Host
Spacious one-bedroom apartment (by NYC standards) with beautiful, large windows on both ends that capture the sun throughout the day in all its glory. On warm days, I climb to my roof and watch the sky.
The neighborhood is old-fashioned Brooklyn: no hipster cafes or restaurants here, but you'll find a bodega on every corner (and 4 others between) and the best taco truck in this part of the world ($1.75/ amazing taco!). It is only a ten-minute walk to the subway, which takes you to any central part of the city you wish to visit. Greenwood Cemetery, apparently famous on some tourist maps, is 15 minutes away by foot. Prospect Park is another 10-15 minutes from there. If you're a runner, I will go running with you through the park. Oh, and Coney Island is 20-25 minutes away on the subway.
The basics: Born and raised in Romania; lived in the US for 20+ years; worried about the current state of the world; have worked in politics; have traveled most continents; I speak Spanish in addition to Romanian and English; these days I paint and consult. I also read, write, go to museums, go to Coney Island to see the waves at any time of the year (it's only 20 minutes from me), hang out on my rooftop on warm days, drink, think, talk to anyone who has something interesting to say. And I watch a lot of science videos.
I do many things, and always have. Most of my professional career I spent doing politics and human rights. Two years ago life changed dramatically and I decided to leave the country and backpack for a year. It was one of the best decisions I've ever taken. Since I've been back, I have been unable to stop painting--I did before too, but never at the current scale and pace, or frankly, level. Until my painting pays for my bills, I also consult. My current client is a philanthropic firm and I'm mapping out the foster care system for them (ask me about it...or not!).
