About My Space

Our studio is the entire floor of a factory building in a very industrial area in Red Hook in Brooklyn. We have approximately 3000 sq. ft on the top floor. Loft-like we have huge skylights, tall ceilings, and exposed beams. All hardwood floors and the beautiful light. Access to the roof which has an amazing view of Manhattan. The street has ample parking but can be difficult to find parking during midday.

The room has blankets, sheets, towels and also a closet. Plenty of room for clothes with a full size bed. We have a modern and large kitchen fully equipped for cooking, and a bathroom with a separate toilet and shower area. Lots of plants throughout and in the summer we have air conditioning.

The private rooms offered are part of a project art space, artist residency, event studio and darkroom. Please note that there are events happening while you are our guest. You will be informed to the best of our ability about the events that are occurring during your stay. Staying with us is a good opportunity to meet local and international artists and to share in community of artists.

Neighborhood overview:
Red Hook is a touristic place when the weather is warm. We are surrounded by water and have beautiful views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Cobblestone streets and quaint bars and cafes. We have some of the best restaurants in the area and offer live music almost every night of the week. There are many artists living and working in the neighborhood. There are many cultural activities and outdoor activities to enjoy in Red Hook.

Getting around:
Red Hook does not have direct subway access we are a block away from a B61 bus that travels to downtown Brooklyn in 15 min. We have ample street parking except for midday during the week. Red Hook also has a ferry that runs back and forth from lower Manhattan. We are 15 min walk to the F/G line subway.

About Myself

I am complicated yet simple, silly but serious, hard working but also enjoy life, can be quiet and can be loud. I can't seem to stay in one place very long which can make things difficult sometimes. My sister says I am a butterfly, I kind of like the idea of this. I am a designer, curator, and artist living in Brookly/Berlin and sometimes in other places. I also do many other things not noted here.

I am a multidisciplinary artist, activist, designer, and curator based in Brooklyn and Berlin. My work encompasses photography, video, installation, writing, and social interventions with a focus on storytelling, human rights causes, gameplay, race, and identity. I have exhibited in galleries and festivals worldwide and have participated in events in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Arena has attended residencies and workshops in Greenland, Iceland, Romania, Hungary, Palestine, Turkey, Czech Republic, and the United States. Arena is the founding and current director of an artist residency, event and design studio, and photo darkroom. She previously ran an art gallery called Lucky Gallery both located in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
